Hippos in the Wey – Update 2

Yesterday saw the team out for, what is most likely, our last training sessions. it was 12km along the River wey that Jason, Audra and I did. With Audra back at work on Tuesday and Me tying up a few things, we are looking forward to out little adventure Along the River Wey so below are a few important things to know should you want to Follow us. Bring a paddleboard, kayak, lilo, or just walk along the towpath with us for some of it. It will be great to see as many of you as possible getting your daily excercise by keeping us company. As the day will be a scorcher, I think there will be a fair bit of swimming along the wey as well.

Tracking

In my last blog, I posted the distances between the lock and the cumulative distance of the paddleboard. We average about 4.5km per hour so you should be able to work it out.

We will also be using

In the search box look for hipposinthewey and our track witll come up and you should be able to find out exactly where we are during the day. You can then join us whereever you can.

Parking along the wey

There are various parking areasalong the Wey navigation and the ones I Have commonly used are as follows

  • Cattershall Road (Over Cattershall Lock)
  • Guilford, near Millmead lock (Here you can park and walk down towards St Catherines lock and join us coing up the river)
  • On the Road outside the Row Barge in Guildford ( You can park and walk along the river next to us)
  • Pyrford (near the Anchor Pub)
  • New Haw Lock (we will be passing though this lock)
  • Jessamy Road in Weybridge (from here you can walk to the navigation and follow it down towards Town lock)
  • Our destination will be at WeyBridge pointcar park.

I am sure there are others but those are the ones that I know of and have used.
