5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting insight into the psychology and experiences of an endurance athlete Reviewed in the United States on

A wonderful insight into what it takes to become a long distance athlete. Both personal and informative, “Let’s Do Something Different” tells the story of one man’s desire to change his life, and the lessons he learnt along the way. Schlachter shares his experiences of being wet and being dry in this compelling story. His conversational style, humour and insight into the mind of a long-distance athlete make this a worthy read. I will be looking forward to his next book.
Recommended for anybody interested in what it takes to become an endurance athlete or the psychological requirements to overcome huge obstacles.

Just finished this awesome book by Graeme Schlachter. Written by a very experienced ultra open-water swimmer, it is crammed packed full of extremely useful information, tips and advice. I particularly love the focus on the importance of training the mind, not only for endurance events, but also for life in general. Preparing the mind is so important in endurance events but is too often overlooked and takes second place to physical training.

This book is a must read for anyone not only training for an endurance swim, but for any endurance athlete, or anyone interested in what it takes to be an ultra-athlete.

The last chapter is Graeme’s account of his English Channel swim and is a very nostalgic read for anyone who has attempted this challenge. I fully recommend this book.
